Summer Reading List

I'm currently taking suggestions for new books to read. I have a few I plan to read soonish but I am always looking for more.

Here are some books currently on my list:
  • Blood, Bones, & Butter by Gabrielle Hamilton- I just started reading this book. I really like reading memoirs by chefs and this is actually the first one I have read that was written by a woman.
  • Annabel by Kathleen Winter - I bought this book with a Barnes & Noble gift card that Garrett's mom gave me for my birthday.
  • Bird Cloud by Annie Proulx - Annie Proulx is one of my favorite authors and I was interested to read this book which is a non fiction work.
  • The Seamstress  by Frances de Pontes Peebles - I picked this book up when our local Borders was selling all of their remaining stock for something like 90% off.

Summer Reading List

Summer used to mean visits to Grandma's house, family trips, and having as much time to read as I wanted to. Now this summer I am in class but I have still found time to do a little bit of reading.
I've mentioned I recently got a Kindle. I still really like it. It's light, it's very easy to read, and I can update Twitter on it. But best of all you can download a lot of classics for free. I started with Frankenstein and I was really surprised at how much I liked it. I knew the novel was much different from the movie versions but it was so much better than I expected.
I also recently read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. I know a ton has been said about this book series. It was really entertaining and I can see why it has captured the attention of well, everybody. Also, one of my favorite authors Jennifer Weiner has a new novel out called Fly Away Home.

Here is what is next on the reading list:

  • The Time Machine, HG Wells

  • Medium Raw, Anthony Bourdain

  • The Girl Who Played with Fire, Stieg Larsson

  • The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde

  • Anyone else reading anything good?
